Charades

Her eyes, more sacred than gemstones,
Shone innocently towards the light,
Their symmetry was absolute:
Impossible to capture by mere artists,
The pupils were so dignified;
A souvenir of majesty.

She caught my glance and smiled,
It penetrated my defences,
Her beauty had stolen my thoughts,
My mind was unorganised;
I regressed back to childhood momentarily,
Reduced to a gibbering imbecile.

I realised and tried to look mature,
It was no good, it was a charade,
Self indulgent tears filled my eyes,
My inadequacy was my tragedy,
My lover just stared at me with those eyes,
It was ignorance I wished to revel in.

About Me

I was born in 1992 to a modest working class family. I'd always strived to be a higher class to make my parents proud. I started writing primitive 'poems' at seven to express myself. In an uncaring society my poetry did not fare well so I stopped. At 15 however my love of the written word came back to life and posted poems on my Myspace blog. I generally write in a dark, detached style. I have no sympathy for my creations and I often afflict as much pain onto them as possible. Why? I don't know.

Writing is a tremondous concept; creating your own characters and controlling their actions and fate evokes feeling that you are a god of your own domain. Like an artist creating their visual masterpieces, a writer must have a precise attitude to their work and be omniscient towards their situations, thus manipulating their characters effectively. I'm rambling now so please check out some of my work. It's mostly poetry which I post on a semi-regular basis however occassionally I may post my ideas in continuous prose or comment on recent events as I have a furtive love of politics. I am Conservative by the way.

I just want to say a thank you to my friend Sarah. I've never met her in person as she comes from America, but she boosted my confidence to post my work on a blogging website; and here I am. She has her own website at: sarahf09.edublogs.org

Thank you for reading

My name is Nathan Lloyd. I have created this account today, so it's natural to make the first post a preview of what I wish to post in the near and far future. My favourite subject at school was always English as it always gave one freedom to express one's self through the medium of poetry and novelettes. So that's what I plan to post here. Besides that I may sometimes post reviews or anything I feel like. In the next post I'll be complacent and write it all about me, but this is only to put some context into the things and themes I write about.
